I had the same problem. I don't think the whole engine or carb needs to be warmed I think it's the battery. If I leave a battery tender on it, it will start anytime any temp. Don't have much of a problem sense I moved to southeast GA. And as for the choke I need to use it at any temp if the bike hasn't been running for a while(6 or 8 hrs).
